Some Robberies Involving Children

The beautiful Australian state, Victoria, is now facing problems with robberies. Statistics show that robbery reports are averaging two cases daily. These attacks involve street robberies and knife attacks in licensed premises. If it is any consolation, attacks in convenience stores and service stations have dropped because of CCTV use.

With robbery attacks prevalent in the city, what is even more disturbing are cases where minors are part of the crime. Statistics show that children as young as 10 are involved in such. Statistics also reveal that there has been a 45% increase in involvement of younger children. Records show that there are 58 children aged 10-14 who were apprehended and caught last year. Another record shows that 287 teenagers aged 15-19 faced arrest and inquiry with robbery charges. These young offenders used knives as weapon.

With a 9.4% increase in knife-armed robberies and police intelligence reports saying that there are more people carrying knives, the state’s government agreed on new search laws to be introduced this year. Deputy Commissioner Sir Ken Jones stated clearly that the police force will be serious in implementing the new search law, once it is passed. The new law, which is based on UK’s law, states that there are designated areas where police officers can search for any concealed weapon – especially knives.

Though policemen are aware that some Victorians carry knives mainly for protection, they ask the public to support the new law. Deputy Commissioner Jones is stern in reminding the public on what they should do, in times of crisis like this, and that is to just walk away. He also reminded youngsters to stop carrying knives as if it were a fashion statement because knives can only lead them to dark places, make them do wrong things, and can cause their arrest. In addition to his reminders, Jones said that they are also eyeing knives sales especially hunting and military knives.

Using of knives in robbery attacks revived it earliest use – as a tool for hunting food and as protection to wild animals and other tribes. But in this century of technology and civilization, knives become a dangerous tool that could hurt others. Knives’ history should enlighten people and remind them that knives were made to aid in living and not to cause distress to others. Just like the custom bowie knife and the military bowie knife which have surpassed challenges and time.

Gerald Shaw is a voracious reader. Maybe that’s why he writes so well.

The body armor and the bullet proof vest- go for the most protective ones

When we hear the word body armor, the first image that comes in our mind is the clanking metal that was used in the battlefields during the ancient times. Today the body armor industry is on a rise and being propagated by teams of highly qualified experts who come up with a variety of body armors and bullet proof vests with the help of the sewing machine. The reason for this is that the modern day’s body armors and self-defense clothing are made up of the highly resistant fabric which can ensure a life protecting shield against the bullets fired from firearms, short range guns, sharp weapons like the knife and the arrow and the explosives like the hand grenades.

The body armors manufactured these days have a far more complicated theory and detailed analysis is done before selecting the material for making such armors. The modern day’s bullet proof vests are more flexible and light weighed and can be easily compared with normal clothing. In a tight situation, the safety it provides will make it easy for you to use these life guards. During the ancient time when body armor was invented, there were different armors used to protect different parts of the body.

The most frequently used item of body armor that is used today is the bullet proof vest and is used by different kind of people such as the law-enforcement forces, military and security guards. One of the items which are rarely used is the hard helmets which are mainly used by the forces during situations like riots. In certain uncertain situations, even high profile personalities and politicians are advised to use body protecting shields. Also, the personal ballistic protection is used by the common people to protect them from work related injuries. The first body armor in the form of Flak jackets made up of the nylon fabric was used in the Korean and Vietnam battle fields.

The latest soft body protection armors are made up of the fabric and are capable of defending the body against shoots and stabs. During the process of manufacturing, the material is properly tested and then used. After the bullet proof vests and other body armors are manufactured, they have to pass through several tests such as the ‘California ice pick test’. There are many different levels in ballistic attacks; level I, level II, level IIIA and level IV. These body armors are tested for each level and then released into the market to be used by the forces.

These body protecting armors are generally very expensive so it is advisable to get the body armors which are affordable and most effective at the same time. It is obvious that the bullet proof vests which are made from the more effective material will usually be thicker. The less disruptive items of the body armors are only capable of protecting you against the level I ballistic attacks. Generally, the grade III protective body armors are used by the forces and made sure that they fit perfectly and are the most comfortable ones.

Body armor and bullet proof vest are available in many types. Consult the experts to know which one you may need.

Wenger Swiss Military Watches

Wenger watches are designed to meet the most rigorous military requirements. The specifications would impress even the boldest watchmaker. Our watches must withstand use in extreme cold and humidity; withstand impacts, magnetism, and sudden changes in altitude. During the Swiss Commando Raid, which brings together military teams from fifteen countries, our watches are subjected to the worst that can be inflicted on a timepiece, and not on our laboratory test benches, but for real. As far as we are concerned, it is simply unthinkable that even one of our watches would not stand up to this terrible ordeal. The watches that we market throughout the world are exactly the same as those worn by the winning patrol in the Swiss Commando Raid. You can wear them without fear during your sporting or leisure activities.

Like Swiss Army knives, all of our timepieces are designed to be truly useful and to provide lasting satisfaction. The collection is split into various families. This range of Swiss Made watches caters to every aspect of traditional usage. Wenger’s characteristic logo, the cross of Switzerland engraved in a red square with rounded corners sits in the twelve o’clock position on the case. Some models have silver escutcheons, for aesthetic reasons. Every Wenger watch is covered by a 3 year warranty and incorporates the same basic qualities as the Swiss Army knife – ingenuity, functionality, reliability and, above all, remarkable value for money.

Are the Martial Arts still under development?

January 21, 2010 by admin

What is a martial art?

A martial art can be defined as any skill that can be applied in warfare. The word martial means “military.” So traditionally, a martial art is a military art. The first things that usually come to mind when discussing modern martial arts are leaping, kicking, punching, blocking, inverting elbows, twisting necks, throwing, and weapon fighting. But also horsemanship, javelin throwing, archery, spear fighting, halberd fighting, wrestling, knife fighting, rifle, shotgun and pistol shooting, demolitions, logistics, and battle strategy can all be described as the field of martial arts. Anything that a soldier might do in battle is a martial art.

By martial art usually it is meant aikido, arnis, boxing, capoeria, chow gar, choy la fut, hapkido, hsing’i, hun gar, jeet kune do, jow gar, judo, jujitsu, karate, kempo, kick boxing, krav maga, kung fu, pa kua, penjak silat, praying mantis, savate, shaolin, tae kwon do, tai chi, white crane, wing chun, wu shu and more! As you can see the list is quite long and it is actually quite amazing how many martial arts systems there are and how many methods of self defense can be formulated.

Often within a martial arts school it is taught that ‘this particular system is the best system and it was created to beat all the others’. Of course every martial artist would have the viewpoint their style is the best because that is the style they have chosen to do, but in reality what they are saying is ‘this is the best style for me as it suits my temperment and I like the teaching environment’.

The changing of the arts

Throughout this history and development of the martial arts and all the combat systems of man our training tools have played a vital part in evolving and perfecting these systems and techniques.

All the martial arts have been effected by the role that mechanical devices play whether it be weapons, dojo mats, breaking boards or even the uniforms we wear – all these paraphanialia indentify the martial arts into their systems and style.

The main players in shaping our new martial arts would be the traditional wooden dummy, wing chun rings, iron palm ointments and even the system of using forms and karta have developed the martial arts into their current form.

Even today modern training tools are common and again the martial arts are under development with new training products such as the Wavemaster, the BOB training dummy, the Focus Master. All with one thing in common, to create a well rounded combat system.
Ideally a martial arts solo training tool should be workable for all and based on sound theory and through constant practice develop into sound physical application. The ideology and theory would have to take into account all the history of the combat technology of man and give this competition and street application.

The Martialarm Combat Training Partner

In a martial arts career you can occationally find your self with no school to go to or no one to train with and so out of neccessity the martialarm solo training partner was born. The Martialarm is a Martial Arts training machine used to develop the entry and trapping skills of any martial arts system. It is designed to actually test any techniques so to improve the ability to trap and control your opponents hands and arms. This can be done because the Martialarm moves and reacts like a real opponent. The Martialarm moves and twists up, down, left and right just like a real opponent would – so it can spring forward and it does strike back!.

The Martialarm Combat Training Partner was designed and developed on the following theories

Martialarm Theory

#1) Safety – You must maintain 100% safety when entering into the opponents attack range, this means to limit any variables that could occur by covering them. (Methods of entry must be sophisticated yet simple, fast as well as safe!)

#2) Attack – You must have the ability to attack at will, with no concern or hesitation. The attack should incorporate a total control of the opponents weapons. (Attacks must be structured to have within them a 100% defense!)

#3) Adaptability – Techniques, attacks and defenses must flow but not necessarily at a constant pace. Adaptability to choose what’s next is key!

Whatever martial arts you choose just be sure you do look at a few before you decide and enqire with the school what martial arts equipment they utilize to get the best from your training.

This article was written by P. Sundbye who has been training in various martialarts for the last 11 years including Wing Chun Kung Fu, Aikido, Tong Long and the Lee Total Control system.

Introduction to the Martial Arts in Southeast Asia and Oceania

January 3, 2010 by admin

The sheer diversity of cultures in Southeast Asia and Oceania has played a large part in the evolution of martial arts in the region. At the same time, a wealth of religious practices-including shamanism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism, and, in particular, Buddhism-have all contributed to the philosophical underpinnings of indigenous, imported, and hybrid art forms. These have been influenced by Chinese traditions and martial arts, and have flowered into a wide-ranging catalogue of fighting : systems, each with its own distinct flavor and cultural identity.

Some martial-arts traditions in the region, such as amis and kali, have provided the inspiration for other, more modern arts. For example, today there are more than 800 schools across Indonesia’s 13,000 islands teaching the indigenous martial art pencak silat and the majority of them teach different styles. In the Philippines, eskrima contains a multitude of stick-fighting, knife-fighting, and empty-hand techniques that were developed in the past, but which have been adapted to cope with the risks and dangers of modern life on the country’s mean city streets.

Southeast Asian arts range from full-contact aggression to a more gentle focus on self-development. For example, muay Thai, the direct and effective kickboxing sport that uses elbows and knees, is a simple yet brutal art. In contrast, the Myanmarian art of pongyi thaing is nonviolent and stresses Hindu and Buddhist principles in an attempt to develop a practitioner’s mind, body, and spirit. Those who practice the ancient Myanmarian art of bando yoga seek to cultivate their health-and in former times their readiness for battle-by defending themselves against both armed attack from without and internal disease from within, leading to a more peaceful existence free from confrontation and conflict. This philosophical concept was captured succinctly by the legendary Bruce Lee when he said: “If you don’t fight, you cannot lose.”

The past meets the present

Many of the older indigenous martial-art forms in Southeast Asia were practiced alongside music, dance, and drama. These traditions live on today, although in a slightly different form. For example, muay thai practitioners engage in a dancelike ritual before they fight to protect themselves and hex their opponent during a bout. The fight itself is always accompanied by hypnotic and distinctive music. In Indonesia and Malaysia, silat is often practiced to a musical accompaniment and often features in folk dramas.

Renewed life

As nations and their people in the region emerge from years of conflict and suppression, traditional martial arts have begun to flower once again. Cambodia’s ancient martial-art traditions can be seen in the figures that adorn the temples of Angkor Wat, which dates back to the 12th century CE. The arts in Myanmar are mostly animal-based techniques and have survived with relatively little influence from the other modern sporting arts in the region. Many styles of thaing-the generic term for defense or all-out fighting systems in Myanmar-are largely based on grappling and striking. Lethwei, a traditional Myanmarian sport similar to muay Thai, has been practiced in Myanmar for centuries and continues to grow in popularity.

Jingoistic trends

Throughout Vietnam’s turbulent history, both culturally and philosophically, the country’s Chinese-influenced martial arts were never standardized. Instead they were primarily passed along family lines and, during the French occupation from 1859 to 1954, were driven underground. They are now enjoying a reemergence and many have strong nationalistic elements, such as vovinam, which was founded in 1938 as a Vietnamese martial art for Vietnamese people.

Martial arts “down under”

In Oceania, most of the ancient fighting techniques and systems not only use simple weapons, such as stones, slingshots, and sticks, but also metal spears, swords, and other bladed weapons. Mau rakau, the traditional Maori martial art, is of particular interest. The art is seen as being a useful way of cultivating self-discipline and social responsibility and practitioners often have to endure painful tattooing as a rite of passage to warriorhood. A number of hybrid martial arts have evolved in Australia and New Zealand, especially during the early 1970s when the martial-arts craze reached its zenith and films and television series featured central characters who were skilled in combat or self-defense techniques. Many of these arts remain popular today.

Effective Medicines for Pain Relief

January 1, 2010 by admin

PAIN when discussed physically is the sensation that hurts. Pain is a typical sensory experience that may be described as the unpleasant awareness of a noxious stimulus or bodily harm. Pain may cause discomfort, distress, or agony. Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, as described in terms of such damage. In simple words you can describe pain as the unpleasant sensation signaling actual or possible injury. Pain is the most common reason for which the individuals visit the doctor.

Pain is the condition that can be described only by the individual experiencing it. No one else could describe the pain except the person suffering with the pain. The feeling of pain may be tabbing, aching, or pinching. Pain can also be steady or throbbing. Pain is categorized into two type acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is the normal, predicted physiological response to a noxious chemical, thermal or mechanical stimulus and typically is associated with invasive procedures, trauma and disease. It is generally time-limited. Acute pain generally disappears when the injury heals. Chronic pain may range from mild to severe. Chronic pain is a state in which pain persists beyond the usual course of an acute disease or healing of an injury, or that may or may not be associated with an acute or chronic pathologic process that causes continuous or intermittent pain over months or years.

The intensity of pain can vary from mild to intolerable and from one person to another. People differ remarkably in their ability to tolerate pain. One person cannot tolerate the pain of a small cut or bruise, but another person can tolerate pain caused by a major accident or knife wound with little complaint. Pain signals travel from the painful part of the body along thousands of specialized nerve fibers through the spinal cord to the brain. Thus, the pain is common condition in the world that each and every man suffers from. Different medicines are available to combat pain. Here, are the some effective medicines for the pain relief:

1. Pain Killers:

Pain killers are the very commonly used medicines to treat the pain. These are mostly available as the over the counter medicines and can be taken for the quick relief from the acute pain. These pain killers stop the sensation of the pain by cutting down the pain signals that are sent by the brain to the affected part. You will note that the pain will start again as the effect of the pain killer is reduced as the reason for the pain was not treated by the pain killer. For the quick and instant relief pain killers are suitable but they fail to give the long term relief. Please don’t use the pain killers on the regular basis as they can make you habitual towards the usage of the drug. Avoid the excessive usage of the pain killers because that can cause the severe harms to your health.

2. Non-opioid Analgesics or Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

This class of medicines is the most effective treatment against the pain. You can get the fast and permanent relief from the pain with the help of these medicines. NSAIDs relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever and inflammation. They decrease the formation of natural substances in the body called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins serve to protect a number of areas in the body such as the stomach and kidneys. By decreasing prostaglandins, NSAIDs lessen the sensation of pain and reduce inflammation. NSAIDs are often used in combination with other drugs such as opioids for treating pain after surgery because, when combined in this way, the pain can often be well controlled with a smaller dose of the opioid.

Aspirin is the oldest NSAID that was first invented by Bayer pharmaceuticals in 1899 to treat the pain. The latest and the newly developed class of NSAIDs is the COX-2 inhibitor that is used to get the instant and permanent relief from the pain. The best available option of COX-2 inhibitors is preferred by the doctors to relieve the pain, inflammation, tenderness, or stiffness caused by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, painful menstruation, or menstrual symptoms like cramps.

3. Opioid Analgesics

The most largely used class of the analgesics that is mostly preferred to get the relief specifically from the chronic pain and sometimes even from the acute pain. These medications are also known as the narcotics. Opioids are an essential option for treating moderate to severe pain associated with surgery or trauma, and for pain related to cancer. These medicines block pain messages in the body, but they also affect the way we feel about our pain and help us better tolerate it. Our body produces natural opioids (endorphins) as part of its survival response to danger and injury. Because the medications of this class work in the same way as endorphins, they work very well in blocking pain.

It is very important to get the facts about these effective and powerful pain medicines because their under-use has been responsible for much unnecessary suffering. One of the advantages of opioid drugs is that they can be given in so many different ways. For example, they can be given by mouth, rectal suppository, intravenous injection (IV), subcutaneously (under the skin), transdermally (in the form of a patch) or into a region around the spinal cord. The only drawback with the use of opioid analgesics is the more occurrences of the side effects. It is very necessary to contact doctor and take his advice before using the opioid analgesics.

Thus, the best available treatments for the relief from the pain are the NSAIDs that are most effective and are easily available in the market.

Note: This medication are prescription medicines. So, please consult the doctor before using any of these medicines.

Characteristics of Bowie Knives

December 30, 2009 by admin

The Bowie knife is one of the most remarkable tools to ever be created. This knife serves equally well during camping, fishing, hunting or as a form of personal protection. While most people are familiar with the general shape and form of a Bowie knife, understanding what actually qualifies a knife to claim that particular name can be a little difficult.

Because of the intense popularity of Bowie knives, you’ll find a wide range of different styles. In fact, there are so many different types, that it can be hard to tell what is real and what is not. For instance, you’ll find knives from the Rambo movies that are derivatives of the Bowie knife, but feature a serrated back (spine). You’ll find “Bowie” style machetes, as well. The real determining factor in the equation is your own personal tastes. For instance, if you are a purist, then the Rambo and Predator editions are certainly out of the running for true Bowie status.

The blade should be at least six inches long. It can exceed this length, though. You’ll find Bowie knives with blades as long as twelve inches, or even longer. The blade should be at least one inch wide, though longer knives might be up to two inches in width. The blade should only have a single edge, running along the bottom of the edge. These may or may not have a Spanish Notch – an area supposedly designed to trap an enemy’s knife blade, but more likely used in a utilitarian manner.

The classic look is what most purists accept as a true Bowie knife, though even here, there is much disparity. Some collectors even accept Sheffield Bowies as true Bowie knives (these feature a sharpened back curve on the point, where the clipped portion curves up to meet the knife’s spine).

Finally, the knife should have only a single edge, though some versions with saw-teeth on the spine have been produced, based on a military design that saw use during the Vietnam war (and featured in films such as the Rambo series). Of course, the status of a particular knife will vary with each person, depending on whether they are purists or just knife lovers.

Dylan Sabot is the owner of an online bowie hunting knife store featuring Cold Steel bowie knifes. Additionally, Dylan is also the President of a specialty lighters store.

THE POLITICIANS AND THE POLITICS OF INDIA

THE POLITICIANS AND THE POLITICS OF INDIA

I have been wanting to write about our country’s political system for quite some times but could not bring myself to do it until I got an email just the other day which was like a slap in my face, and would be a slap on every Indian’s face. That email made me think that we as a population, we as citizens of this huge country are just as much a stooge as the politicians are. We are absolutely responsible for the despicable life that we lead. Then came the decision of the ruling Congress government to break Andhra Pradesh into two naming the other state as Telangana. By doing this the government actually opened the Pandora’s Box and now as of date the Mayavati government of Uttarpradesh wants a separate state by the name of Poorvanchal. The Gorkha Mukti morcha in the north West Bengal has renewed their demand for a separate state, and God only knows how many will follow suit. It seems that all the problems of our country has been solved and now only such things are left to handle and spend upon whereas the basic amenities like food clothing and shelter are yet to reach the masses. I thought I should pen my thoughts now.

The email is about the Last assembly election that was held in the month of April 2009 and went on to the month of May 2009 The details of the dates and the phases I reproduce below just to impress upon my readers that this process of conducting the assembly election is a gargantuan task undertaken every five years and to conduct this process yours and my hard earned money is spent. Crores and crores of money is spent, taxpayers money is spent to elect a representative who will sit in the highest office of the country and promulgate decisions and law that will see the effective functioning of our huge country. They will represent you and me in the parliament .

The election schedule of the 16th assembly election 2009

1st phase: April 16, 2009 (124 seats)

2nd phase: April 23, 2009(141 seats)

5th phase: May 13 :

Himachal Pradesh,  Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttaranchal, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Uttar Pradesh.

Such grueling was the schedule of this election. That email therefore was a slap on my face. The email, “Can one imagine working for the following company?

It has a little over 500 employees with the following statistics

29 have been accused of spouse abuse.

7 have been arrested for fraud.

19 have more than three criminal cases pending against them .

117 have been charged and are being investigated for Murder, Rape, Assault, Extortion and Robbery.

71 cannot get credit or loans due to bad credit histories.

21 are current defendants on various lawsuits..

84 have been involved in offenses and have paid fines.

Can you guess what mighty Organization this is?

It is the 545 members of the Lower House of Parliament of India that works for you and me. The same group cranks out hundreds upon hundreds of Laws design , takes decisions that changes our lives in a second,to keep the rest of us in line……”

India is the world’s largest democracy. When the constitution was made, all that was put forth as the qualification to become a member of the parliament, was just the basic three things 1.should be a citizen of India 2.should be at least 25 years of age 3. Should be a registered voter. All Indian citizens above the age of 18 have the right to vote. May 2009 the world largest Democracy concluded the gigantic exercise of electing their leaders to the 16th Lok sabha term.

The difficulty in conducting this gargantuan exercise was compounded by the fact that just few months before this election in the late hours of 26th November Mumbai was attacked by terrorists and it was a nightmare for all of the residents of Mumbai. There were intelligent bureau inputs that terrorists from Pakistan would try their utmost to disrupt this election process at various locations. Nearly hundreds of terrorists from SWAT valley in the North Western frontier Province of Pakistan actually crossed the borders braving the snow and the adverse weather conditions that were prevailing during that period to give shape to their evil design. BUT the election process went on smoothly with no incidence of violence being reported from anywhere.

New York Times came out with an excellent observation which I reproduce here bellow: “True this is the place where Gandhi, Buddha, Mahavir, Guru Govind Singh were born and preached their religion. True India has the second largest population of Muslim. India truly is a picture of Unity in Diversity. India truly is a picture of the bouquet of colored flowers. In such a backdrop one would expect all the citizens to come out in force and vote for their next leaders to lead. The disappointing fact remains that there has been a very low turnout of voters, about 41% which conversely means that 59% did not cast their votes.  59% of the eligible voters stayed away from this gigantic process.”

Six months before the start of the election process campaigns were launched. There were umpteen numbers of television commercials urging each and every eligible voter to come out and vote. Famous personalities urged everyone to come out and vote. The voters ignored the commercials and the famous personalities and they did not come out to vote.

I have been delving into the psyche of each of the voters trying to think in the way they would have thought before going to cast their valuable vote, just to find an explanation for such apathy towards this huge process. The reasons that I have are not many but each of them are very pertinent.

Few years before we got the Independence, in the year 1947, the National movement had gathered a lot of steam all the political parties in India namely Congress led By Jawarharlal Nehru, The communist Party led by one of the stalwart of the freedom movement Sri Harkishen Singh surjeet, The Muslim league led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah all these leaders and the Parties had but one agenda and that was to free India from the bloody clutches of the British. The British government then realized that they will not be able to rule India further. Just before granting India the Independence the politics of separatism started and the then Stalwarts of Indian politics failed to see the implications. They failed to perceive the dubious politics of divide and rule injected by the British. The riots between Hindus and Muslim took place on both sides. Thousands and thousands of innocent people were killed on both sides. Families were separated, loved ones had to reconcile to the fate of leaving each other, and thousands were maimed. This was only because the two pillars of the then political system Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammed Ali Jinnah The two stooges both wanted power to rule free India, neither wanting to reconcile. Mahatma Gandhi could not broker peace between them; he went on a fast but to no avail and ultimately Pakistan was created and Mohammed Ali Jinnah was its premier where as Jawarharlal Nehru became the prime minister of free India.

From then till today the politics of separatism has continued and we the gullible and not so intelligent citizens of India time and again fell into the traps of this politics of separatism. We have always failed to realized that these politicians have but one agenda in todays free India and that is to seat in the chair of power by hook or by crook, mainly by crook. We are used as pawn in the game of numbers  where we are the vote bank and to garner our support the bloody politicians can go to any extent. Look at the latest inclusion in the history of politics of separatism. Raj Thakare. His MNS, Maharashtra Nirman Sena. The word nirman is synonymous with progress and here he is brutally attacking the youngsters who came to give entrance examination of the railway recruitment board. Constitution of India has given the right to every citizen of India to go anywhere in India in search of job ,a citizen can work anywhere in India and here Mr Raj thakare is used his political clout to stop Indians ,who had come from Uttarpradesh and Bihar, from sitting in this exams. Supreme court guarantees the freedoms as prescribed in the constitution. Raj Thakare’s men and goons assaulted the candidates and vandalized the exam center forcing the authorities to cancel the exam. For such dastardly act Raj Thakare should have been behind bars but today he is free man and on the contrary he is at times a guest of honor in some stupid functions. Seeing this, the citizens of India will have a total aversion to go in the hot April sun to vote for someone like a goon named Raj Thakare . Politicians try to divide us on the basis of Language, on the basis of caste, on the basis of class and on the basis of Religion only to garner a sufficient number of voters by virtue of which they might come to power. In doing so none of the Political leader in this country has actually thought about the country and its people. Crores and Crores of rupees were spent in changing the names of the cities like Mumbai from Bombay, like Kolkata from Calcutta, Like Bangaluru from Bangalore. Question is what is the need to do these changes?  Have the politicians solved every problem that the country is facing? Even after sixty two years of Independence the election manifesto is the same. Housing for all, Food for all and medical for all. There is no change in the manifesto of any political party in India because the root problems have never been dealt with. Every Party that was in the fray for this election had their agenda printed in glossy prints and each party promised electricity to the rural India, water good road etc etc. Come to think of it, from 1947 till date 2009 the agenda is the same which means that any party that comes to the power does practically nothing for the masses once they come in power. Before election they are epitome of humbleness but soon after they come in power they forget whatever they promised to the masses and the agenda that they printed on the glossy pages remains in the glossy pages for ever. Hence we find that even after 62 years of independence good roads, electricity to the rural areas, water, shelter and illiteracy still finds place in the agendas after agenda and the population has to fend for themselves for the basics. Year after Year funds are allocated to implement the agenda and the funds mysteriously disappear.

Politicians like Raj Thakare should have been punished in the strongest possible manner but the lackadaisical attitude of our judiciary when it comes to the question of punishing the politicians raise lots of doubt in the psyche of the common Indians. Nothing is going to happen to these goons. The law, the police, The judiciary is all for the common Man. The law of the land does not apply to people like Raj Thakare, like Papu Yadav and the likes who blatantly defile the Constitution of India. Such politicians are actually the terrorist that India as a country should be aware of, as these breeds of politicians are breaking the country from within. We do not need a foreign hand our own hand is doing the work of the foreign hand.

Therefore the psyche of the voters is that all the politicians are the same , they are basically the opposite sides of the same coin, anybody and everybody is the same and nothing is going to change. The low turnout in the election shows resignation among the voters.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar when he made the constitution he basically compiled the constitution from the various constitution of the world. He took the best points from various constitutions and made into one. No doubt this was a mountainous job and very well executed, but this constitution has one basic flaw. There is no restriction to the number of political parties that can be formed in this country. Anybody who is a citizen of India can launch a political party of his own with even a handful of supporters. There is no cap on the minimum qualification of the political aspirant. With the constitutional right and with no cap on qualification any criminal today is a political aspirant and he or she is accepted in the political system without any question. Politics therefore in India has become a haven of criminals of all types. From rapist to smugglers, from murderers to petty crimes the political parties cutting across all ideology has only them as their candidates. Such people only join the political system to escape from the law as they very well know that as long as they are in power or once they are in power they will get immunity from all the crimes that they have committed and will have total sanction of the government to perpetrate more crimes. We the people of India have to caste our votes to bring one of them in power. Why should we? The statistics of the parliament profile which I stated in the beginning of this article precisely shows that.

Again the psyche of the voters refrains them from going out in the April sun to cast their vote. Whom to vote for? Every politician irrespective of the Party is a goon, a rapist, a criminal, a murderer and cutting across every political party the politician is the most corrupt person in India and No law can do anything to them.

There is a phrase very common in India, “A politician can even sell his mother if he can get some money out of it”. If all the black money that these politicians have stashed away is brought to the country there would be no deficit financing. All the loans that India has taken would be mitigated, all the projects that are stuck due to paucity of funds would be completed, and even after this there would be surplus which would then be utilized in the R & D in all scientific fields. That would be UTOPIA.  So whom do we vote for? We don’t want a stupid, illiterate, murderer, rapist, burglar and a corrupt person to be our leader and sit in the highest office –THE PARLIAMENT. This is the general sentiment among all Indians. This shows that by far the most the population of India has resigned to its fate of being ruled by a bunch of idiots and criminals.

Is there any answer to all these? When I was in my school way back in 1977 I was given a topic of debate which was, “Dictatorship is the only answer to India’s misery” and I spoke for the topic. Today I feel that it is the answer to India’s misery. During Indira Gandhi’s time when she was the prime minister of our country she had declared emergency in the country. During that period the country showed tremendous growth, crime rates came down, corruption came down drastically and everything seemed to be running smoothly.

We as country we are not ready for democracy. We still do not understand the value of democracy. Pre Independence we all had but one issue and that was to drive away the British. Then one midnight in the year 1947 India was declared independent and we from then on have not understood the value of independence and democracy. Some say that India is heading towards civil war but violence is not the answer to India’s misery. Violence begets violence. The answer lies in the Total overhaul of the system.

Let me enumerate the steps that should be taken to bring about a radical change in the lives of us Indians.

1. The minimum qualification for all political aspirants should be at least a master’s degree in any field as this will bring about an analytical approach to all the issues.

2. There should be a cap on the total number of political parties that India can have.

3. No political aspirant who has any brush with the law should be allowed to stand in the election. The maximum age of all the politicians serving the country should be 65 year only. Post 65 they should retire and make way for younger and more dynamic persons to come in. today most of our politicians are septuagenarians who cannot even take care of themselves how will they take care of the nation and its aspiration?

4. There should be total accountability in the functioning of the government.  A step in this direction has begun recently with the RTI act which is note worthy.

5. The law order situation should go under the knife and have a total overhaul. Police should be autonomous delinked from the political parties and the politicians. Judiciary should be able to discharge justice in the shortest possible time, it is a common adage, “justice delayed is Justice denied” Law and order should be same for everybody irrespective of their position. Politicians should have no control on the Police.

6. Every citizen from the age of 18 to the age of 20 should have compulsory military training as this will instill a sense of discipline and a love for our country.

We as a power can make the government act according to our requirement and make them implement the above we can at least give our future generation a better India of which they can be proud of.

The Essence of Ninjutsu

The ninja were a group of assassins and spies who fought and hunted in the mountainous regions of Japan. This group was made of a collection of fundamental survivalists who created and practiced many survival techniques. This survival group propagated many legendary myths about themselves, which instilled great fear into their enemies. Those myths still exist today, reinforced by the popular movies like ‘Teenage Ninja Turtles’ and ‘Elektra’.

The ninja symbol is the character “nin,” which means endurance, tolerance, and strength. The pictograph of a knife above a heart represents self-discipline.

The Early history of the Ninja

Practitioners credit the origins of the art to En No Gyoja, a warrior monk who set up a training camp in the Togakure mountain range. The sect existed in isolation for 500 years until 1165, when Daisuke Nishina, a clan member, ran away to the Iga province. There he came under the tutorage of Kain Boshi, a mystic warrior and monk, which greatly influenced his training, adding esoteric philosophies to his fighting and tactical guerrilla skills.

Ninjas Versus the Samurai

In its original form, the art was geared to the needs of the assassin, with a large emphasis on concealment, infiltration, and spying. Opportunities for employment among the ninja peaked during medieval times, when warring factions became better organized and the need for unconventional battle tactics became vital to success.

It is a widely held misconception that the ninja were sworn enemies of the samurai. In fact, many were also samurai who took on assassination jobs or gathered intelligence for opposing samurai clans as a way to raise their status and financial wealth. They actually share many of the same techniques for fighting. However, there were many battles between them, largely instigated by warlords who had gathered samurai militia and felt threatened by the ninja’s expertise in destabilizing power bases.

Teaching and training in Ninjitsu

In the past, the art of ninjutsu was practiced and taught in a strict code of secrecy from master to disciple, and teaching as a profession was discouraged by the ninja until quite recently.

Today, there are many different schools of ninjutsu, the majority of which teach skills that originated from samurai fighting arts: spiritual refinement, armed and unarmed combat, explosives training, stealth, water training, military strategy, escape, horsemanship, espionage, geography, and meteorology.

Principles of Ninjutsu

Ninjutsu’s basic tenets are summed up in a poem, probably composed by a warrior known as Yamabushi.

The Essence of Ninjutsu

My parents are the heaven and earth,
My home is my body,
My power is my loyalty,
My magic is my training,
My life and death is breathing,
My body is control,
My eyes are the sun and the moon,
My ears are sensitivity,
My laws are self protection,
My strength is adaptability,
My ambition is taking every opportunity with fullness,
My friend is my mind,
My enemy is carelessness,
My protection is right action,
My weapons are everything that exists
My strategy is one foot in front of
the other,
My way is ninjutsu.

Choosing the Best Knife for Your Needs

Surviving a camping trip or emergency in the wilderness is much easier if you have a good knife.  However, choosing the right knife for your needs can sometimes be an overwhelming prospect.  Here are some tips and tricks to help you when shopping for the best knife for you.

Combat or military survival knives are not the sort of instrument you want to have for casual camping.  The attributes that make it an effective weapon against others make it unsuited for wilderness use.  Double-edged knives especially fall into this category.  While perfect for thrusting, they are inferior for other uses due to their weaker blade, particularly towards the tip.  The second knife edge is unnecessary for most camping uses and leads to a greater chance of injury.  Large knives are also unsuited for most use.  Unless you are flying over the jungle or some other heavily overgrown area, a large knife such as a machete is not a good choice.  If you are inexperienced with a large knife, they can be “unwieldy and difficult to use”.  Even if you do need a large knife, for more common uses, a second knife is usually necessary anyway.  While hallow-handled knives are a good idea, they are not very practical.  The way the knife is constructed, with a nut or glue holding the knife blade to the handle results in a tool that simply cannot hold up to the frequent use and abuse of field activities.  Another reason not to use this type of knife is the danger of losing all the emergency supplies stored in the knife handle should your knife go missing.

The better the quality of a knife, obviously the better it will serve you.  However, any knife is better than no knife in an emergency situation.  Simply looking for the best quality you can afford is best.  There are several different terms that are used in the world of knives that can be confusing to an amateur.  “One piece”, “integral design”, “narrow tang”, “skeletonized” – how do you know which is what?  The best knife should have “a full tang” which is also called a “one piece” or “integral design”.  This just means the blade runs the full length of the knife and is covered to make the handle portion.  If the blade material isn’t covered for the handle it is called “skeletonized”.  A skeletonized blade reduces the bulk and weight of the knife.  When the knife has a “narrow tang” it means that the blade narrows as it enters the handle.  The particular style of knife you choose is not as important as ensuring that the blade extends the full length of the handle.  “Full tangs are essential for maximum strength and utility.”
